Langdale's Essence of Cinnamon steeped in history...
For hundreds of years the powerful effects of Cinnamon have been
known. Apart from the pleasant, heady taste, wines and other
beverages mulled with strong doses of Cinnamon were thought to give
protection against the cold.
Langdale's Essence of Cinnamon the origins...
It
was over 260 years ago in 1745 that Edward Langdale set up his
distillery on Holborn Hill, London, England. Unfortunately, some 35
years later in 1780, Langdale's distillery was burned to the ground
and totally destroyed by rioters, during the "Lord Gordon Riots".
Led by Cosmo George, Duke of Gordon, a mob of 10,000 people swept
through the City of London in an orgy of destruction. The annual
register of 1780 gives a vivid description of the mob fighting in
the streets to obtain the potent spirits of wines used to make the
Essence. So moved by the event was Charles Dickens that he gave a
graphic account of the destruction of the distillery in "Barnaby
Rudge". Happily Edward Langdale was able to rebuild his distillery
and continue producing Essence of Cinnamon, which became ever more
popular.
It was later in the 19th century that Langdale's Essence of
Cinnamon achieved widespread fame. In the years that followed,
Langdale's Essence of Cinnamon grew increasing popular having it's
merits fully tested by the members of His Majesty's Civil Service,
the Army, Navy, Police, and many large firms.
Langdale's Essence of Cinnamon in modern times...
Today, Langdale's Essence of Cinnamon is still based on Edward
Langdale's original formulation, although it is now produced in
modern pharmaceutical approved premises using only the finest
quality 100% natural ingredients. It continues to enjoy widespread
popularity amongst those people who appreciate the value of a more
natural way to good health.
